Overcoming Obstacles 2018 3rd Place Northwest Quilters Show
This award-winning pinwheel custom quilt wall hanging could be yours to display in your home. Used in quilts during the mass migration west along the Oregon Trail due to its simplicity, it also paid homage to the scenery passing the pioneers by, towns and farms with their familiar and hope-giving water pump windmills becoming scarcer and scarcer.
I took that simple idea of the windmill and pushed it into something more. Using both a hand-guided and ruler-guided longarm stitching technique, this quilting pattern pulls you into the shadows created by the three-dimensional texture in the white.
